How swapping works?
If swap is accepted and payment has been made by the member who received an offer, then the member who sent this offer will have to make a payment of $9.95 within 48 hours to complete the transaction.
If the swap is declined then your swap item is released to swap with other swappers.
List Your Item for Sale
Once your item sells, we will contact you with the buyers information. You have 1 to 2 business days of sale to package and ship your items. Update OnceWear with the tracking information once you have shipped the items.
Once delivery is confirmed, funds will be transferred to your account. We collect 15.5% (12% commission fee plus 3.5% service charges) per sold item. This means you make 84.5% of what you list the item for.
Shipping is simple. You can add the shipping costs to your sale price, which means the buyer pays for the shipping. Or you can list shipping costs as Free, which means shipping costs are on you. If you listed your item as swap, you pay for shipping for your own item.
For your protection, please obtain a tracking number or delivery confirmation for your item. This will provide proof of shipment in case the item gets lost.
All disputes should first be directed to the seller. Remember, OnceWear is only a marketplace to swap, sell, and shop. As such we are not responsible for any members actions. If you cannot reach an agreeable solution, we will do everything we can to help. Please email at firstname.lastname@example.org and describe the complaint. As part of our investigation, we may contact you and the other member.
Most problems can be resolved through open communication. Contact the other member and explain your concern. Give the other member the benefit of the doubt… s/he may be traveling or swamped for the moment.
Make Your Clothing Look Good
Assigning value to your most special items:
If you are unsure how to assign a value to your item feel free to peruse other similar items and the prices at which they have been posted. If other sellers are selling similar items for a far lower price then
you might consider a more competitive price.
Make sure you are not assigning a value based on your own personal emotional value. We all have formal saris, lehengas and other dresses that we love very much because we wore them to an event which was of significant personal or emotional value to us, individually. Often clothing is associated with good memories or sometimes you just loved the way you looked and felt in it. While you might place a very high emotional value on a very endearing and beautiful garment, remember that that doesn’t necessarily translate into a very high monetary value to others.
Remember, many of the OnceWear community members are here to find a great deal or to get a monetary return on a relatively large investment. This is a two-way street! Respect every buyer and every seller and they’re posts, always be polite when negotiating a purchase/swap/sale. If you are struggling with assigning a reasonable value or lowering an items price you might want to reconsider whether or not you really want to part with it.
Good rules of thumb when getting rid of high value items:
• If you haven’t used/worn it in a year, it is wasting storage space.
• If you are unable to fit into or use the item in question, then why keep it around?
• If you have no plans or place to wear or use it in the next 3 months, it is useless to you. Fashion and tastes change so frequently that odds are you’ll probably want something different to wear (or something no one has seen you wear) in the future.
The point is, make sure you are doing mental and emotional acrobatics to convince yourself you need to keep something you won’t ever use/wear again or to convince yourself that your item is worth more
because of your own personal feelings about it. Remember the goal is to make money back on things that are of no use to you any longer, so that you can find (buy or swap) the perfect “new to you” item that will not only wow yourself and others, but cost a fraction of what you might pay buying new!
When shipping sold items you’ve got options and choices to make! As, always with OnceWear.com, we have an option that works best for you! Always consider the item that you are selling with regard to shipping. As the seller you have the option to figure the cost of standard ground shipping into the price of the item and advertise your item as “free shipping” or you can allow the buyer to choose the preferred shipping method and pay the associated costs outside of the price of the item. It is important to note that once an item is paid for or the swap has been accepted, the clock starts ticking on the shipping timeline. Even though we assume that regular ground shipping takes 3-7 business days- you would still certainly want to get the item shipped within 24 hours of the payment (or less if possible). The principal of timeliness is especially important if the buyer requests priority or next day shipping. It is of the utmost importance that you ship a purchased item as soon as reasonably possible.
Most of the items can be shipped in a medium box. We recommend flat rate shipping boxes (Priority) and envelopes as provided by the USPS. The 2014 updated price list is as follows:
You can also purchase a delivery confirmation for under a dollar from USPS!
As long as the item can fit in the prepaid shipping vessel, it doesn’t matter how much it weighs, if shipped in the US. If you can get a shipping container that you know the cost of shipping before hand, then you can click “free shipping” and add the cost of shipping into the overall price of the item.
If you were to post a set of costume jewelry for sale you should take the jewelry to the post office (or any local retailer that sells flat rate shipping boxes, such as Target) and find the appropriate size envelope or box. Let’s say that the jewelry fit in the “padded envelope” flat rate costing $5.95. If you decided that you would like $25 for the set you would then add the $5.95 that shipping cost you to the decided upon $25 and you would post the item as “free shipping” when filling out the item for sale post; the grand total you would ask for the item would be $30.95 (feel free to round up or down).
Calculating shipping (for those who choose to offer buyers different shipping options) can be complicated and unclear. There has to be accurate estimation on the part of the seller. Starting with the items and
Continuing with the scenario described above, optimally you’d like to pre-pack the jewelry set, weigh it and calculate the shipping on your own. If you know how much the item weighs when it’s packed then you can just add the calculated shipping cost the same way you would the flat rate. The complicated part is estimating the prices, if a person who purchases your posted item is across the country or out of the country; the shipping costs are much more. We suggest that you use a the above online shipping estimator, however it is only useful once you know how far away you are mailing the item and when it needs to be there.
